DEF CON ONE – BIOGRAPHY

Def-Con-One equates to powerful, groove fuelled metal of the heaviest order.

Def-Con-One was founded by Antton Lant on drums (former drummer for black metal legends Venom 1999-2009) and Johnny Hunter on guitars after playing together in a band called SANITIES EDGE. They were looking to make the music harder and heavier and went on a search to create a new, more powerful band.  A few bass players tried out for the band but nothing was totally concrete until Steve Miller joined. Steve fitted in immediately and brought with him a punk element that complimented the metal origins that Antton and Johnny had already established. Steve was himself into metal but also had a strong connection with punk and this brought a new dimension to the band’s sound. The trio then began their search for a vocalist who could add the final “missing ingredient” to what they were trying to achieve. Having tried a few different vocalists over the years they always found themselves “wanting more”,

Self entitled debut EP “DEF CON ONE” led to the band being invited to play Bloodstock Open Air Festival in 2011 along side such greats as Motorhead, Immortal, Devin Townsend and Wasp but to name only a few, a were described by Bloodstock as coming over like "a bar fight between Pantera,  Machine Head and Slayer.

A solid year of gigs in 2011 increased their fan base a saw them play the length and breadth of the UK.

In 2012 DEF CON ONE signed to Scarlet Records in Italy and in June of 2012 released their debut album Warface which received critical acclaim all over the world.

Gigging continued in 2012 and 2013 taking in festivals the length and breadth of the UK including Hammerfest V and LesFest II to name but a few. DEF CON ONE also featured in the Headbangers Balls tour where they supported Xentrix in Manchester before taking to the stage with Hatebreed in their hometown of Newcastle. Two festival headline slots followed at Cradle Will Rock and Sophie Fest.

The end of 2013 saw DEF CON ONE release a limited edition EP Brute Force And Ignorance on vinyl through Night Of The Vinyl Dead (who also released a limited vinyl of DCO's debut album Warface) The EP was featured in Terrorizer Magazine who also premiered the Brute Force music video on their website.

The band has gone from strength to strength and has now unleashed their 2nd album in Feb 2014 through Scarlet Records entitled "II". It has already received outstanding reviews and looks set to push DEF CON ONE even further up the ladder where they rightly belong.

2017 opens a new chapter in our history with new members and new tunes.
